The Western Australian Standardbred Breeders Association is conducting a Stallion Service Tender in conjunction with Alabar Bloodstock, Allwood Stud Farm, Cobbity Equine Stud, Egmont Park Stud, Empire Stallions, Larkhill Vets, Woodlands Stud and Pinjarra Harness Racing Club.
This is a great opportunity for breeders across Australia to get an exceptionally well-credentialed stallion at a reasonable price. Tender is for the 2017/18 season. The 15 fantastic stallions available are:
- Alta Christiano 1:54.2 – $309,163. Sensational son of Christian Cullen, from the Black Watch female line. Beaten only once in Australia. Won Grp 2 Western Gateway in 1:55.4 at his first Australian start, then stunning winner of 2013 WA Derby. Oldest foals are 2yo in 2017/18. Standing in WA.

- Highview Tommy 1:55.2 – NZ$1,021,904. By champion sire Bettors Delight out of a Christian Cullen mare. Winner of Harness Jewels and Southern Supremacy. Raced in top company throughout his career. Beat Smoken Up, Sushi Sushi etc in Group 1 Ballarat Cup. Oldest foals are 2yo in 2017/18Standing in NZ.
- Hurrikane Kingcole 1:47.6 – US$582,807. World Record of 1:48.2 as a 3yo on a 5/8 mile track. By sire of Bettors Delight in Cams Card Shark. Exceptional point to point speed. Timed in 1:46.2 for the mile at Mohawk after missing the start. Oldest foals are yearlings in 2017/18. Standing in Qld.
- Shadow Play 1:47.4 – US$1,549,881 Won Little Brown Jug in two heat world record, Adios Pace in World Record 1:48.2 for 5/8ths track, and US Pacing Championship. Sire of Group 1 winning 2yos Shadow Sax, Shadow Runner, Castalong Shadow. Sire of Natural Disaster (26.6 qtr on GP ½ mile track). Standing in Victoria.
- Sunshine Beach 1:47.4 – $971,037. World champion son of Somebeachsomewhere, second only to Captaintreacherous. From the great Golden Miss female line. Full US book in 2017. Oldest progeny yearlings in 2017/18. Standing in Australia for the first time at Alabar Victoria.
Funds raised on behalf of WASBA from the Stallion Tender go into Stakes, subsidies and other incentives, broodmare credits and rehoming. All proceeds from Betterthancheddar and Shadow Play go to Pinarra Harness Racing Club as part of Alabar Bloodstock’s sponsorship arrangement with Pinjarra Harness Racing Club. Part proceeds from the remaining stallions provided by Alabar Bloodstock will be directed towards rehoming. WASBA strongly supports the rehoming initiatives and this will be the third year that WASBA, in conjunction with Alabar, has donated funds for this purpose.
WASBA is assisting WA BOTRA with their fundraising by including in this tender the stallions provided solely to WA BOTRA for this purpose (Follow The Stars, Gotta Go Cullect, Highview Tommy and Hurrikane Kingcole). Larkhill Vets are assisting both WASBA and WA BOTRA.
