Following a short battle, popular Committee Member Laurie Kennedy sadly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning 26 July.

A Life member of both Gloucester Park Harness Racing and the WA Standardbred Breeders Association, as well as a long-time owner-breeder, who sold a Sportswriter filly for $20,000 at the Perth Sales earlier this year, the last yearling through his Brook Park establishment.

Laurie was responsible for the beautiful garlands presented to the feature race winners at Gloucester Park, including the 2015 and 2016 Inter Dominion Grand Finals.

“Laurie had a real passion for harness racing and was well respected in the industry” remembered John Burt, President Gloucester Park Harness Racing

“He was a great contributor on the Gloucester Park Committee, but above all he was a wonderful man who will be sorely missed” said Burt

As a sign of respect, reinsman will wear black armbands in the feature event on Friday night, the $35,000 John Higgins Memorial.
