Respected harness racing participant Kevin Harding has passed away.

Harding, 68, passed away on Sunday, December 3 after a long battle with cancer.

A twin brother of top South Australian trainer Les, Kevin Harding was involved in harness racing from the 1970s. He is the father of current trainer-driver Michael Harding.

A trainer-driver from the Wayville days, Harding held a licence until 1992. When Michael took up his trainer’s licence, he obtained a stablehand licence and helped in the stables.

“Dad loved harness racing,” Michael Harding said.

“He enjoyed nothing more than helping out around my stables and feeding up.

“Unfortunately, the illness caught up and he had to stop in June this year but still wanted to know what was happening with the horses. He still watched the trots on television.”

Harding’s funeral is on Tuesday, December 12 at 11am conducted by Taylor & Forgie Funeral Directors on Adelaide Road, Gawler South.
