9The Gr.2 $50,000 QBRED Breeders Classic Final for three-year-old colts and geldings has plenty to offer.

After all, it’s the glamour division.

And the hype has surrounded the ‘big three’ in Frankie Rocks, Leos Best and Catcha Lefty.

But following the barrier draw, the race has opened up and rival connections are now looking realistic chances including the ideally drawn Timmo Time.

The Shawn Grimsey trained gelding will start from the inside gate following the early scratching of Son Of Mara and now shapes as the early leader.

“We’ve had some luck already; landing a front-line draw was a big boost while the scratching certainly provides us with an opportunity of leading. I’m yet to discuss tactics with Adam (Sanderson – driver) and the decision ultimately rests with him but I’m not against trying our luck at leading all of the way.” Grimsey said.

Timmo Time has been ultra-consistent this season and although he has managed just the sole victory, his recent form indicates another victory is not far away.

With minor placings at his past four starts, the Western Edition – Miss Jorjet gelding is expected to run boldly against his more hyped rivals.

“Given the draw and knowing that the likes of Frankie Rocks, Leos Best and Catcha Lefty all have second-line draws to contend with, tactics are going to be crucial but at least I know where my bloke will be early. I’m keen to lead and hold that position, that’s my opinion.

“It will be interesting to see if Frankie Rocks will hold our back at the start or will they look to get off straight away while Leos Best and Catcha Lefty will have to work at some point. They’re all very good horses with excellent records but the draws could easily dampen their chances and they can’t afford any bad luck going their way.

“I’ve always rated my horse and this has been a target all season long and given we’ve got a good draw, I think we should try our luck and make the most of it. It’s always great to be involved in these races and you have to make the most of the opportunity, I know my horse is fit and ready so we’ll give it our best shot.”

Timmo Time is raced by Shawn’s father, Barry.

The QBRED Breeders Classic 3yo Colts & Geldings Final is scheduled as race 3 at 6.24pm.
