Park Life (2013)  the Rock N Roll Heaven filly out of Strawbs Interact (N20 Family) is heading south to take on the big girls in Victoria . She will be based in the heartland of breeding and racing in the state, Shepparton, with Glen Freeman. Connections on the weekend made the hard decision to send her south mainly for two reasons

  1. To test her ability against some of the best mares in Australia who are currently located in Victoria.
  2. So the close family who are based just outside Geelong can watch her race live around their home state.

We wish Glen and the Dickson family all the best with their mission to test this very good filly in Victoria.

Queensland has a wonderful record of producing outstanding fillies of late and it started with Heavens Trend (2012). This mare, also by Rock N Roll Heaven, (that went on to win the Group One NSW Breeders Challenge in June 2015), is out of the N24 family.  For years this family has thrown up good consistent performers, just a few examples are listed below:

Heavens Trend 2012 (F N24) by Rock N Roll Heaven – 1:52.1 $385,683

Trend Setter 2000 (F N24 ) by Perfect Art – 1:55.6 $199,414

Mossdale Gambit 2002 (G N24) by Jeremys Gambit – 1:54.1US $173,952

Flyin Interstate 2004 (G N24 ) by Sands A Flyin – 1:56.4 $168,491

Upper Class 1964 (M N24 ) by High Class – 2:01.3US $152,583

Dolcezza 2003 (F N24) by Our Sir Vancelot – 1:54.4US $152,508

Land Lord 1986 (G N24 ) by Lordship – 1:55.1US $145,944

On Sky 1998 (F N24) by Sokys Atom – 1:50.2US $139,010

Our Flyin Jazz 2006 (G N24) by Sands A Flyin – 1:55.6 $114,050

Another APG filly and one I‘ve watch very closely is Arts Treasure,  born in 2014,  (by Roll With Joe ) is out of the N61 mare, Art Start.

This filly, like the two girl’s above has also won a Group One race – the 2017 Qbred Triad final. It too, has some very solid family members  with the likes of:

Philadelphia Man 2008 (M N61) by Art Major – 1:52.6 $558,335

Lady Juniper 2000 (F N61) by Caprock – 1:52.0US $255,565

Smarty Jones 2004 (G N61) by Lotsa Clout – 1:54.1 $234,731

Who Said What 1999 (G N61 ) by Fake Left – 1:54.1US $191,803

My Liberty Belle 1995 (F N61) by Fake Left – 1:57.5 $185,333

Rockyourbaby 2007 (G N61) by Stature – 1:56.0 $179,272

Lagoon Stride 2010 (M N61) by Major in Art – 1:56.1 $146,158

Sweet Liberty 1986 (F N61 ) by Gatwick – 1:57.9 $102,706

Another Mare from Qld that I’ve also followed with interest is Firebby.

Firebby’s Dam Rebby winner of $84,436

While this 2012 mare by Courage Under Fire hasn’t come close to winning a Group One, she did run a great 2ndin a Group Two  race when she was Three.  This mare intrigues me because she has the capacity to throw up a really good performance from time to time. This is exactly what she did on Friday night when she took the field out in 27.8 then backed it off with a slower 29.2 and then in the third quarter was timed at 28.6 and home in 26.9 for a 1:52.6 around Albion Park which is very smart.

To put this time into perspective the track record for Albion Park over the 1660m is held by the champion, Im Themightyquinn, with a time of 1:50:4. Watch the reply below as I’m still trying to understand the way Quinny was towed into the race.
