5Our Overanova, the state’s best trotter, claimed another track record at Albion Park today (Tuesday).

Prepared by leading horseman Grant Dixon, Our Overanova rated 1:56.5 for the 1660m mobile start event and clearly smashed the previous record of 1:57.3 which was held by Supper Waltz Wilson which has stood since December 1, 2012.

He recorded sectionals of 29, 29.7, 29.2 and 28.8 seconds.

The New Zealand bred Monarchy – Kayla Nova gelding now holds three track records at the spiritual home of harness racing in the sunshine state which also includes the 2138m mobile start record (1:58.6) and the 2138m stand start record (1:59.0).

Our Overanova is now the winner of 30 races from 43 starts at the track.

Another New Zealand bred gelding in Destreos, an ageless pacing warrior holds the record for most wins at the track with 68 victories.

Winning owner Greg Mitchell was naturally thrilled.

“Absolutely delighted. He’s such a tradesman-like performer, he never wins by big margins but he knows exactly where the winning post is and that’s the most important aspect in racing.” Mitchell stated.

Our Overanova was on a quick back-up after starting on Saturday night when finishing third behind Duke Of The Moment and Justabitnoisy in a time of 2:01.6 for the 2647m stand start event.

He started from a handicap of 50m.

Connections are hopeful of claiming his first official title of Queensland Trotter of the Year at the Racing Queensland Awards night on October 30.

Amazingly, Our Overanova was a finalist for the overall Horse of the Year award last season but failed to pick-up the trotting title.

Our Overanova has won 13 of his 31 starts this season.

All 13 victories have been recorded on Queensland soil.

During a nine start southern campaign throughout New South Wales and Victoria, Our Overanova was a runner-up behind Our Dainty Lady in the Gr.3 Bulli Trotters Cup at Menangle back in April.

Our Overanova is amongst nominations for the Gr.1 $260,000 Dominion, a standing start feature staged over the marathon distance of 3200m at Addington in Christchurch on November 11, 2016.
