Many of South Australia’s leading breeders have thrown their support behind the Harnessbred.com South Australian Yearling Sale to be held on Sunday, February 21 at Globe Derby Park.

Geoff Easom’s Wyndown Stud, One Tree Hill and White Star Lodge, Two Wells have the biggest drafts with five lots each.

Easom, one of the State’s most successful breeders, is offering two well related fillies by the champion sire Art Major, a Changeover grandson of the top racemare Feisty and a Four Starzzz Shark filly and a Mister Big colt from the family of former smart youngster All Action Hero.

White Star Lodge, conducted by former West Australian Maria Petricevich and Shane Loone, has nominated two colts and three fillies, all from good winning families. Their consignment includes a Julius Caesar colt closely related to thrice WA Pacing Cup winner The Falcon Strike, a colt and a filly from the first crop of Auckland Reactor and a Big Jim daughter of the Group 1 placegetter French Fashion.

Gary and Marlene Fryar, who operate Rivergum Lodge, South Australia’s largest breeding establishment, are dually represented at the sale.

The 30 acre Gawler-based property where the likes of Scoleala, Havastar and Votemdry first saw the light of day is offering an Auckland Reactor filly from their former star racemare Rivergum Magic and a Blissfull Hall colt out of the 1:59 Holmes Hanover mare Eastwood Countess.

SA BOTRA committee member Viv Clark, who owns a 200 acre property at Dublin, has an impressive list of breeding credits headed up by the $50,000 SA Sale Graduate Pace winner Let Memphis Loose, the Kindergarten Stakes victor Blackntan and last year’s Southern Cross runner-up Rockfromcork.

Her 2016 draft comprises an Artistic Fella filly that ranks as a half-sister to Rockfromcork and is a member of the tribe of Come On Frank, Rap Artist, Aspiring Art and co. as well as a Mister Big colt closely related to Stashedbytheriver (24 wins).

Naracoorte couple Glen and Andreana Steel, of Tranquil Valley Horse Stud, and Michael Taylor, the Australian representative for Nevele R Stud, each have a single entry.

The Steel’s are offering a colt by the Artsplace horse Heart Space from the family of ‘Cups King’ Aim First, while Taylor has nominated a filly by former NZ 3YO of the Year Sir Lincoln from the dam of the good Globe Derby winner Caroline Bay.
