2Shane Graham has always been a believer.

The leading Brisbane based horseman will partner emerging star Major Coup in tomorrow night’s (Friday) Listed $25,000 QBRED Breeders Classic 4yo Entires and Geldings Final at Albion Park.

Prepared by his father Wayne, the big striding gelding will start from the inside gate in the 2138m feature event and start as a short-priced favourite.

The Art Major-Attracts Attention gelding has continued to improve at a rapid rate and his form this season is outstanding leaving his regular driver to heap praise on him.

“I believe he’s an open class horse in the making because he’s got all of the right qualities; he’s fast, sensible, strong and he’s light on his feet. Every time Dad has brought him back for another campaign, he’s always improved and the best is yet to come.” Graham said.

Major Coup scored a stylish victory at Albion Park on March 15 before being fitted with a recent trial victory in preparation for his Breeders Classic assignment ten days ago.

Lining up against open class star Destreos in the 1660m trial, Major Coup showed dazzling speed when running down the perennial Albion Park winner in a time of 1:56.6 with the final section covered in 27 seconds.

“It was as good as a trial you would expect going into a race like this, we sat back in the trial before I pulled him to the outside coming off the back and he finished really well and felt very comfortable. I was really impressed by his work that day.

“Dad told me he’s trained on really well since his trial and he will take a power of beating after landing the inside draw, it’s going to take a good horse to beat us this week. His gate speed keeps improving so I think we can hold-up from the draw.

“He’s proven he can run good time and I really think he’ll keep improving this season, he’s got the winter carnival coming up and I’m sure he’ll be in the mix for those types of races.”

Major Coup is raced by his breeder, Terry Flynn.

The QBRED Breeders Classic 4yo Entires and Geldings Final is scheduled as race 6 at 7.54pm.
