Victorian reinsman Daniel Jack will drive Im Themightyquinn tomorrow night at Gloucester Park when he climbs into the cart behind the superstar pacer to lead out the field in the 2017 TABtouch Inter Dominion Grand Final.

Jack is well-known in Perth after a superbly planned WA campaign in 2013 that saw him take out the Group One Golden Nugget Championship and Group Two WA 4yo Championship with Nowitzki.

Quinny’s regular driver Gary Hall Jnr will be unavailable on Friday night for the most appropriate of reasons – he will be driving star WA pacer Chicago Bull in the final.

The only other reinsman to handle Im Themightyquinn in a win in Western Australia is Kim Prentice and he too will be unavailable tomorrow night as he drives leading local hope Soho Tribeca in the final.

Prentice drove Im Themightyquinn when he won the 2011 WA Pacing Cup from Mysta Magical Mach and Ima Spicey Lombo.

Im Themightyquinn retired after winning his last start in the Group One Blacks A Fake at Albion Park in Brisbane on 19th July 2014 in a performance described by his trainer Gary Hall Snr as his greatest win.

Im Themightyquinn was forced to work three-wide for the last 1000 metres which was covered in 55.7 seconds and showed amazing stamina and courage to get up and win in the last stride.

The son of Washington VC retired with a record of 111 starts for 58 wins, 21 seconds, 13 thirds and stakes of $4,567,456.

With 58 wins in 111 career starts – gave Quinny a winning percentage of 53%.

Of all Australasia’s remarkable champions with 100 or more starts only Village Kid 93 wins from 160 starts at 58.1% had a better strike rate. The likes of Cardigan Bay, Pure Steel, Gammalite and Hondo Grattan all had inferior winning percentages.

Of Quinny’s 58 wins, 13 were in Group One races including three Inter Dominion finals, three WA Pacing Cups, three Fremantle Cups, two Auckland Cups, a Cranbourne Cup and his memorable Blacks A Fake win.

His career earnings of $4,567,438 is a mere $7,982 behind the Australasian Stakes Record of four time Inter Dominion winner Blacks A Fake who won $4,567,456.

Had injury not curtailed Quinny’s career he would have soared past the Queensland champion’s tally.

Earlier this year Im Themightyquinn was inducted into The West Australian Racing Industry Hall of Fame. As a three-time Inter Dominion Pacing Champion he is also a member of the Inter Dominion Hall of Fame.

Tomorrow night Steelo’s Bar and Grill at Gloucester Park will be re-branded as Quinny’s in honour of Western Australia’s only three-time Inter Dominion champion and it is fitting that the champion will be on-course for the occasion.

The Cup is set down for decision at 8:00pm Perth Time and fans will need to get down to the fence early to get a close-up view one very special horse.
