Two totally outstanding harness racing people, Pam and Lindsay Turner from Pukekohe in New Zealand, (I am very fortunate to be able to claim as family friends for more than 13 years) love keeping an eye on all things harness racing in AUS, as Lindsay developed  his  love of the sport from  country Victoria where he and his brother were raised.

Pam is one of the five children the late Arthur Cross left behind when he sadly passed away May of 2014,aged 84.

Arthur was a different unit and l loved talking to him about all things harness racing and, to be more accurate, Arthur would be doing all the talking and l the listening.

He loved sharing stories about his training deeds and accomplishments with a Armbro Del mare called Del’s Dream who finished fifth behind Lord Module in the 1979 New Zealand Cup. The joy he had when he brought his family alongside the mare to race in Australia in a Qld Free for all and the Inter Dominion Pacing Consolation back  in 1977 was obvious to all.

Pam and Lindsay are the very respected owners of the 2, 3, & 4yo NZ female pacer of the Year, Tigerish (15 wins and $491,957).

Tigerish, who died back in 2012, was able to leave 12 foals before her passing and the most successful on the track was, Justa Tiger. This son of Christian Cullen won north of $160,000 .

Justa Tiger’s sister, Tiger Turner, a very smart mare that broke down on the track way too early did a wonderful job in her very short time in the breeding barn, leaving winners like All Tiger ($496,107) and Tiger Tina ($119,631).

The Pukekohe couple still love breeding and racing good quality horses and Pam would be one the country’s leading A.I technicians with success rates way over the industry standards.

The Turners are also credited with making the very best head collars in the world, from their home base in Pukekohe, where they produce thousands of these collars every year, one client purchases more than 10,000 a year which they have done for a very long time.

When news of the The Allwood Sale, which will take place at the Magic Millions Sales Complex, Morphettville, SA on Sunday the 11 February, filtered across the ditch, Lindsay was straight on the phone asking how the couple could help out.

Well it’s with great pleasure that we can announce that every yearling sold at The Allwood Sale will walk out of the complex with the world’s best head collar, thanks to the Turner’s and SA BOTRA.
