The TABtouch Inter Dominion will once again return to Gloucester Park Harness Racing (GPHR) in November 2017, for the running of the final series of a three year tenure.

Regarded as Australasia’s greatest harness racing event, the Inter Dominion Grand Final is worth $1.1M, making it the richest pacing race in Australasia, and the overall series being worth $1.8M in prize money.

The Carnival will remain in the same timeslot as last year with the first heat set for Friday 24 November, followed by heats on Tuesday 28 November and Friday 1 December, with the Grand Final staged on Friday 8 December.

The series will be complimented by the impressive 4YO series, including the $200K Retravision Golden Nugget (Grand Final night) and $125K McInerney Ford Classic (opening heat night), as well as the Mares Series, with the $125k Westral Mares Classic (Grand Final night) and the $50k Norms Daughter Classic (opening heat night).

The second heat will once again be held at the Bunbury Trotting Club, with this year’s event receiving significant support from Tourism WA and Royalties for Regions, while the ever popular Italian themed race night will be held at the third heat with a spectacular display of fireworks to end the night.

“The two years of the Inter Dominion series has been a great success on a number of levels creating first class racing, tremendous crowds and re-establishing the Inter Dominion as Australasia’s greatest harness racing event, and we look forward to building on this success in 2017,” said GPHR President, John Burt.

The Inter Dominion forms part of RWWA’s broader strategic vision to relaunch, revitalise and re-energise harness racing in Western Australia.

“In making a significant funding commitment the RWWA Board is aware that the investment in the Inter Dominion is far more than simply providing stake money and infrastructure support, it is directly aimed at investing in the harness racing industry in Western Australia and assisting RWWA to achieve agreed goals of new participants, greater industry profile and increased WATAB Customers,” said RWWA Chairman, Jeff Ovens.

Along with the TABtouch Inter Dominion dates announcement, RWWA and GPHR have announced the $300,000 Retravision Fremantle Cup and $450,000 TABtouch Pacing Cup and will move back a week from the 2017 dates and be held on 12 and 19 January, 2018 respectively.
